Nagpur : The staff of Railway Protection Force (RPF), on Wednesday morning recovered marijuana (ganja) approximately worth Rs 2 lakh at Nagpur station.
According to Senior Divisional Security Commissioner, RPF, Nagpur Division Central Railway; Jyoti Kumar Satija, the RPF men while on routine patrol on the station, noticed two suspicious bags in the general coach of New Delhi bound Dakshin Express at around 9.15 am. On enquiry, nobody claimed the bags and hence the RPF personnel took them into their possession and brought at the RPF police station. On further checking, 12 packets of marijuana were recovered from the bags with each packet approximately weighing two kilograms. The estimated cost of the seized contraband is stated to be around Rs 2 lakh.
“We have registered an offence and have handed over the seized material to GRPF for further investigations,” said Satija. He has appealed to the people to contact RPF personnel directly or dial 182 if they notice any person with suspicious movement or have any information of illegal activity in trains or at the station. The RPF drive to keep a check on illegal activities would continue in future too, Satija informed.
