Nagpur : A picnic party turned into tragedy when a speeding private bus carrying 45 residents of Lakadganj to Surabardi collided head-on with a truck and later overturned on a stationary car near Kalmeshwar on Sunday. At least 30 occupants of the bus were injured in the accident.
According to police, morning walkers of Lakadganj garden had planned a picnic and hired a bus for Surabardi. The passengers boarded the bus (MH-49/AT-3249) on Sunday morning. At around 9 am, when the bus was passing from MIDC Chowk near Kalmeshwar, a speeding truck collided with the bust head-on. The impact of the collision was so strong that the driver lost control over the wheels and the bus overturned on a car (MH-31/DC-1127) parked near the chowk. A large number of villagers gathered at the spot and rescued the passengers from the bus.

The injured persons were rushed to a local hospital. Some of the injured were referred to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) Nagpur.
