Nagpur : When you hear the word X-Ray, you certainly imagine about some ailment or a serious injury. However, a radiologist of the city has proved this notion wrong by relating the X-Rays to art.
Meet Dr Pradeep Kolwadkar, the first qualified radiologist of the city, who has organised an exhibition of X-Rays of different living and non-living creatures. It is the first of its kind exhibition in the country.
The three-day exhibition kicked off at the Patrakar Club in the city on Friday. The exhibition has over 150 different X-Rays. These X-Rays are of flowers, shells, starfish, prawns, climbers, different other things along with human anatomy too.
Dr Kolwadkar has himself actually got the X-Rays done of all the objects that are on display at the exhibition. To get all the objects was not easy. Whenever he would visit a place, he would get some or the other objects from that place to Nagpur may it be a plant, a shell or some flowers. Narrating the experience of getting X-Ray of a starfish TLN, the 1967 pass out of Radiology from Delhi said “I am a pure vegetarian and when I asked one of my friends to get a starfish, he was surprised. When I told him the purpose, my friend got it for me. After getting the X-Ray of the fish, I returned it back to him,” said the reputed radiologist, who has practiced for over 40 years.
Replying to a question, Dr Kolwadkar said, “I am fond of photography. However, a thought always hounded me of doing something different and today you can see this unique exhibition.”
Asked as to where does he dream to take the exhibition, he said he has no serious plans but also revealed that he has already got an offer from a Hyderabad-based organisation to display his talent there.
