Nagpur : District guardian minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule on Monday asked power companies to disconnect supplies of mobile phone towers that are creating problems for residents and also asked the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to frame a policy in this regard. He issued this direction at his Janta Darbar organized at Dhantoli zone office.
For the public interaction meeting, the zone received as many 60 complaints pertaining to various civic issues. Most of them were against illegal mobile towers. Taking cognisance, the minister said, “Until the NMC frames a policy, power supplies to these towers should be disconnected. To To restore supply, power companies should seek a no-objection certificate from assistant municipal commissioner concerned.”
Mayor Nanda Jichkar, standing committee chairman Virendra Kukreja, zone chairperson Vishakha Bante, additional municipal commissioner Ravindra Thakre and others were present.
Bawankule also expressed concern over lack of cleanliness around Gandhisagar and gave directions for clearing encroachments around the water body. To a query, assistant municipal commissioner of the zone Smita Kale informed the minister about pending beautification project of the lake with the state government.
Residents complained about lack of cleanliness in Babulkheda, Parvati Nagar, Jaibhim Chowk and other areas in the zone. Bawankule asked the health department (sanitation) to address the issue immediately.
