Nagpur : The new administrative building of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) will now be completed by April 2019.
The entire building was to be completed by the month of December 2018. The University has granted extension for four months, which was approved by the Management Council on Monday.
The building, which will be named after renowned visionary Jamnalal Bajaj, is being constructed under the Bajaj Group’s donation of Rs 10 crore in the first phase. Extension of the period for completion of the work by six months was sought. The original plan had two-storeyed building to accommodate all administrative wings of the university.
This is being done to facilitate movement of the students and others visiting the university. The building is being constructed in the University’s post-graduate teaching department campus on Amravati Road. Later, the University added one more floor to the building as a plan for future need of the ever increasing work. On the request of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, during bhoomipujan of the building, Bajaj Group had agreed to donate Rs 5 core more.
But the condition of completing the work within the scheduled period was laid down. Extension of four months for completing the building was granted for addition of the work by the University. The Management Council has imposed a condition that after April 2019, fine will be imposed for further delay in completing the work.
