Nagpur: In view of rampant misuse of domestic gas as car fuel, the nagpur crime branch has arrested three persons. The three have been rounded up for allegedly refilling liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from the cylinders meant for domestic consumption for commercial use as fuel in gas kit-fitted vehicles. Cops seized LPG cylinders, the machine used to refill the LPG, a four-wheeler, at three-wheeler and a gas agency vehicle collectively worth Rs 5.67 lakh from them.
The accused have been identified as Shaikh Joeb Abdul Rehman (37), a resident of Plot No. 102, Rathod Layout, Anant Nagar, Abdul Majid Abdul Moin Shaikh (32), a resident of Jai Durga Nagar, Zingabai Takli; and Ranjana Gas Agency driver Mangesh Bhimrao Bhimte (34), a resident of Nazul Layout, Jaripatka.
Acting on a tip off, Crime Branch raided accused Shaikh Joeb’s house and caught the three accused red-handed when they were illegally refilling the gas from domestic LPG cylinders of HP and Bharat Gas into a four-wheeler and a three-wheeler. An offence under Sections 3 and 7 of the Essential Commodities Act has been registered against the accused persons at Gittikhadan Police Station.
