Oppo’s sub-brand Realme is gearing up to release the Realme 2 at a live event with hopes that the device will do as well as the previous Realme 1 did in the country. The Realme 1 offered impressive hardware specs at a good price and the Realme 2, if the leaks are to be believed, looks to kick it up a notch with an even more impressive display, better battery life, and improved camera.

Realme 2: Specifications, Features
The Realme 2 will feature a 6.2-inch notched display that will house the front-facing sensors and camera to enable the OEM to push the boundaries of the display and reduce the bezels. It’s an approach we’ve seen 90% of OEM’s adopt over 2018 and enables Realme to boast a 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio on the device to achieve an 88.8% screen-to-body ratio, which isn’t the best we’ve seen but is certainly impressive. The device will compete directly against the Redmi Note 5 Pro, which in comparison features a 5.99-inch Full-screen display with 1080 x 2160 Full HD+ resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. Interestingly, the landing page for the launch of the Realme 2 on Flipkart mentions that the notch is “India’s 1st preference in its dream smartphone”, which accompanies the hashtag #ANotchAbove. While many critics believe the notch is a lazy method of achieving an all-screen display, it appears Realme believe the design is something that consumers look for in a device.
Also listed as one of the standout features of the upcoming Realme 2 is the dual-camera to capture stunning pictures. The Realme 1 came with a single 13MP rear camera at the rear, but the Realme 2 looks to make it much more competitive against the other smartphones in the price bracket. The device is expected to feature a more impressive 13MP + 2MP dual-camera setup on the back and a secondary 2MP depth sensor. The Realme 2 will have an AI-powered intelligent scene recognition and an AI Portrait mode to help users capture portraits with a DSLR-like background blur effect. In comparison, the Redmi Note 5 Pro is equipped with a 12MP + 5MP dual-camera at the rear with similar AI features and support for Full HD video capture.
The third area of focus is a large 4230mAh battery that will exceed the 4000mAh on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and the 3410mAh battery found on the Realme 1.
