To hit the roads of Nagpur in this winter ,8 More Green buses arrived

Nagpur: As many as 8 new Green buses have been added to the existing fleet of 10 Green buses in Nagpur, taking the total tally to 18. The NMC in its previous announcement had said that at least 55 green buses would ply in the city. However for a long time, only 5 buses were into service. Soon the new eight buses would be pushed into service after the registration process is done.

n October, NMC Deputy Speaker Bunty Kukde and traffic manager Shivaji Jagtap had informed about 5 buses to be inducted. These buses would be run as per the prevailing demand as the length of Green buses is quite more. these buses might hit the roads around the upcoming winter session of state assembly. A proposal regarding allotment of parking space at NMC’s abandoned octroi post and fuel expenses of these buses would be put in the next general body meeting of NMC. An ethanol pump would also be proposed to be brought at this place currently encroached upon by the local transporters and travel operators. An anti-encroachment drive is likely to be launched next week.

NMC’s traffic department had last year announced that 55 ethanol-run green buses would ply in the city. During the last assembly session in Nagpur, 5 buses were started. These buses are plying on 7 routes that include Sitabuldi-Kalmeshwar, Sitabuldi-Hingna, Sitabuldi-Aathwa Mile-Defence, Sitabuldi-Butibori, Sitabuldi-Pardi, Sitabuldi-Kamptee-Kanhan, Sitabuldi-Butibori and Sitabuldi-Koradi-Khaparkheda.

The fare for these fully air-conditioned green buses is 60% more than what is charged for boarding red buses, named as ‘aapli bus’. The buses under Aapli Bus service are very well equipped. While red diesel buses have automatic door system, vehicle tracking system, CCTV cameras, passenger system board, reverse camera, etc, green buses are equipped with automatic doors, automatic announcement systems for stoppages, rear engine, fire extinguisher, CCTV cameras, automatic emergency window button, charger points, vehicle tracking system, led display with mike for announcements, etc.
