22-year-old rape victim ends life days before her wedding

Nagpur : A tragic incident took place in Nagpur district of Maharashtra where a rape victim ended her life. The 22-year-old girl was raped two days ago and was depressed after the assault. She also wrote a suicide note before ending her life.

The victim, a resident of Moradi, was a scholar and on February 15, a boy who was known to her, called her at Moradi bus stand. The victim went to meet him and then, the accused forced her to drink alcohol with the help of his two other friends. The accused then raped her and then, along with his two friends, threw the victim in an unknown place in the night and ran away.

The victim lodged a complaint with the police and the three accused were arrested. The victim was going to be married on March 10. Her father is no more and she is survived by her mother and a younger brother. Both of them work on their farm.

Tragedy struck her household just few days before her wedding and the victim was in acute depression since the dastardly crime was committed.

On Sunday, the victim committed suicide by hanging herself in her house. She was alone at home at the time and was allegedly upset over accusations against her. Before ending her life, the victim wrote a suicide note demanding the main accused to be punished with a death sentence.
